Review on The Wharf Restaurant & Bar
Fine views of the Thames are just one of the pleasures on offer at the Wharf restaurant, a stylishly converted boathouse overlooking Teddington Lock. A covered terrace adds variety to proceedings, while wooden floors and high ceilings create a spacious backdrop to the chic bar area.
Thanks to chef/proprietor Ray Neve's experienced hand on the tiller, the cooking has changed course of late, with a more eclectic slant, lots of Asian influences and a dedicated approach to carefully sourced ingredients: beef and game now come from Manydown Farm in Hampshire, for example.
Start with spicy Thai beef salad with pink ginger or grilled prawn skewers with sweet chilli and couscous. Next you might be tempted by coconut-baked red snapper with Szechuan vegetables and egg noodles, Moroccan spiced rump of lamb with chermoula or even a Wharf steak burger. To finish, expect anything from mango, lemongrass and Kaffir lime crème brûlée to iced bitter chocolate and hazelnut parfait with Cointreau crème fraîche.
Upstairs is 'The First Floor', a separate room used for private functions; it's a beautifully renovated area incorporating a large balcony which looks directly onto the Thames and Teddington Lock.
